Borneo Dream ran a scuba diving trip to the WW2 Rice Bowl Wreck last week – the best wreck diving from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia!

Diving the Rice Bowl Wreck

We set off early from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia with a slight South Westerly wind. We made good progress and arrived at the WW2 Rice Bowl Wreck, Usukan Bay, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia at 9:30am ready for some great wreck diving! Joanne, the Skipper, did a perfect drop of the shot line in the middle of the wreck.

By 10am all the scuba divers were going down the shot line starting there first wreck dive for the day. There was a strong surface current but once past 15m, and on the wreck, the current was minimal. Good wreck scuba diving conditions.

Well, we had great visibility on the wreck at 20m – 25m. We enjoyed some great wreck diving at the Rice Bowl Wreck, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. The fish life was amazing – Barracuda, a 1.5m Grouper, darting Fusiliers, friendly Bat Fish, large schools of Yellow Snapper and more. A great wreck diving trip from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia!

A Wreck Diving Adventure

After a 2 hour surface interval, chilling on Borneo Dream 3 and enjoying a tasty lunch, the scuba divers went back down for their second dive, wreck diving the WW2 wreck. The visibility had reduced slightly but the wreck diving was still enjoyed by everyone with every diver having a big smile on their face as they came up from the second dive.

It was then back to Kota Kinabalu as the customers sun bathed on the sun deck of our catamaran – it’s a hard life wreck diving with Borneo Dream .
