TARP Diving Day Trip & PADI Discover Scuba Diver Experience, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, Borneo

We enjoyed another day of diving around Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP). The weather wasn’t as sunny as normal, with rain and wind from mid afternoon, but that didn’t deter from our diving and enjoyment for the day.

Lobsters

We started off our day with the leisure divers, Ada and Kenneth, diving near Pulau Sapi ably guided by one Ron. Richard also supported Ron as part of his Divemaster internship with Borneo Dream. Meantime, Jack completed his skills as part of his PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience in the shallow waters along Sapi bay with Billy, one of our PADI Instructors. Kenneth’s friend, Ben, had also come along to do some snorkeling and, with a bit of encouragement and a life jacket, went snorkeling in Sapi Bay over the shallow coral reef teeming with a multitude of fish life.

Nemo

During the surface interval after the first dive the wind had started to increase so we decided to adapt our diving itinerary and go and dive some pretty coral reefs in the sheltered bays around Pulau Gaya. Here Ada and Jack dived together for the first time ever. Jack also showed-off his natural diving ability – Billy reckons it was his expert tuition – and nicely managed his buoyancy during his PADI Discover Scuba Diving dives. The divers spotted Puffer Fish, lots of Anemone Fish, Trumpet Fish, Fusiliers, Nudibranches, some large Lobsters and lots more.

Whilst they were diving Ben chose to do a bit of sun bathing on the sun deck of Borneo Dream 3 and chilled out for the rest of the afternoon as well as enjoy some fun chats with Joanne, the skipper for the day.
