Pulau Tiga is a group of small uninhabited Malaysian islands in Kimanis Bay off the western coast of Sabah. Pulau Tiga is located approx. 30nm southwest of Kota Kinabalu. The islands were formed in 1897 when an earthquake on Mindanao caused a volcanic eruption near Borneo. Pulau Tiga became well known through the Survivor television series. It was the setting of the first American season of the show.

Pulau Tiga is also located in a Marine Park – Pulau Tiga National Park. The Marine Park was established by Malaysia in 1985 to protect the island of Pulau Tiga and its adjacent coral reef-filled sea plus two adjacent islands (Pulau Kalampunian Besar and Pulau Kalampunian Damit – also known as Snakes’ Island). This is good news for scuba divers looking to dive pretty, remote coral reefs.

Borneo Dream has found 9 relatively unexplored beautiful coral reef dive sites around the Island (all with GPS co-ordinates so we know exactly where to go for the best diving). The dive depths are between 6m – 25m, the visibility is generally 5m to 20m with occasional strong currents on certain dive sites. This makes Pulau Tiga a great destination for drift diving, underwater photography and any diver wanting to dive somewhere a bit special.

During a scuba diving trip to Pulau Tiga you will dive by large coral covered pinnacles, coral bombies and busy cleaning stations. The hard and soft corals are breath taking, including large colourful barrel sponges adorned with Feather Stars, Whip Coral, Table Coral, Gorgonian fans and more. Look out for an amazing variety of marine life including large beds of Anemones and Clown fish, darting Fusliers, Nudibranches, schooling Barracuda, Blue Spotted Rays, Cuttle Fish, Lobsters and more.
