Pulau Tiga Scuba Diving Day Trip, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia
Borneo Dream took a group of customers on a scuba diving day trip to Pulau Tiga this week. We set off early, departing Kota Kinabalu at 8:00am. The sun was out, the sea was calm, our customers were chilling out on the sun deck of Borneo Dream 3 – all in all a good start to the day!
We cruised at a comfortable 15 knots heading SSW down the coast from Kota Kinabalu and arrived at our first dive site, Pinnacle Reef, Pulau Tiga around 10:00am. We dropped a shot line, Billy (one of the Divemasters for the day) performed a current test and all divers were ready and dropped at the shot line for 10:15am descent. Ready for a good first dive!
At Pinnacle Reef, Pulau Tiga the visibility was good (around 15m – 20m), there was little current and plenty to see. The divers spotted Cuttle Fish, Porcupine Fish, shoals of Glass Fish, Nudibranches, large Puffer Fish and stunning hard and soft corals galore. Everyone surfaced with a big smile on their faces!
After a cheese and biscuits snack during the surface interval, we went to check out our second dive site – Whip Coral Garden, Pulau Tiga. By this time the current had really picked up. We had divers on the boat who had no experience of drift diving so we moved to a more sheltered coral reef on the South East of Pulau Tiga so they could enjoy a more relaxed dive.
The divers did a free descent on to the second dive site at East Reef, Pulau Tiga and had another fantastic dive – more large Cuttle Fish, Lobsters, Hawksbill Turtle, Nudibranches and fantastic coral gardens.
After the second dive we departed Pulau Tiga and started our journey back to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. All in all a fantastic days diving at Pulau Tiga!
