Diving on a Rebreather
Learning to Dive on a Rebreather – TDI Closed Circuit Rebreather Courses in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo
Congratulations to Gael Reithmuller on becoming a certified Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver with Borneo Dream in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah!
Gael completed the 5 day TDI Air Diluent Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver Decompression Procedures Course with our experienced Rebreather Instructor, Billy, in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. During the course Gael completed >700 minutes of diving on the unit (an APD Inspiration). During his training dives Billy and Gael saw a large 1.5 Grey Tip Reef Shark – a nice spot for TARP, our local marine park.

A Semi Closed Rebreather
Gael had previously learned to dive on a semi-closed rebreather with Borneo Dream in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. It was a natural step for him to progress to wanting to dive on a fully closed circuit rebreather.
Borneo Dream is the only provider of rebreather training in Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia – both semi closed and closed circuit rebreathers. If you are a certified diver and you fancy developing your diving skills, or enjoying longer dives, then learning to dive on a rebreather could be a good choice. Interested? The Reef Clean Up Team
Project AWARE Reef Clean Up Event with Borneo Dream in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Borneo Dream held their 6th Project AWARE Reef Clean Up Event on the 2nd October 2010. We had 5 boats taking with 50 divers joining the underwater clean up event from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, France, England, Germany, Belgium – our most popular reef clean up event to date!
We cleaned a range of sites in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park near Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The sites included Sapi Jetty, Padang Point, Sapi House Reef, Coral Garden, Manukan house reef and Sulug east reef. We also conducted a surface clean up for bottles / plastics floating on the sea between Pulau Sapi and Pulau Gaya.

Project AWARE Reef Clean Up Event
After two clean up dives we all met at Pulau Mamutik for lunch on the island – Chicken, Vegetables, Beef Redang, Rice mmmmm. Sabah Parks sorted the marine debris in to categories and weighed it. Overall we collected 129kg of marine debris of which 60kg was plastic bags. That’s a lot of plastic bags!
We involved other local business partners in the event – thanks to Sabah Parks, Marine Research Foundation, Diverse Borneo, Borneo Divers and Pacific Sutera Marine for your support.
Borneo Dream runs underwater clean up events twice a year. If you would like to join our next event in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah then please contact the Dream Team.
