PADI Divemaster Course - Be a Professional Diver

The PADI Divemaster, your first step on the diving professional ladder. Time to take control of your life. Support, help and enrich the lives of others. The is for you.

Below is an outline of a PADI Divemaster Course/Internship. The course has a loose structure but contains predefined skills and learning development sessions that must be completed and passed. These are detailed out in the PADI Divemaster Candidate Information and Evaluation Form (10144_DMApp_v405.pdf).

The following are some useful forms from PADI that will help understand the course structure and allow you gauge your personal level of fitness. You do not need to be an Oylmpic swimmer, just comfortable in water and able to help others:-

The course has some pre-requisistesthat must be atchieved prior to the courses starting:-

  • 18 years of age
  • PADI Rescue Dive or simular.
  • Current First Aid with CPR certificate taken or refreshed in the last two years.
  • Minimum of 60 logged dives by the end of the course, however I would strongly suggest that you dives cover a wide range of conditions from good to bad visiabilty to strong currents. More diving the better Divemaster – PADI Professional you will be.
  • Fitness – Looking at the PADI Divemaster Candidate Information and Evaluation Form (10144_DMApp_v405.pdf) on the second sheet there is some Water Stamina Skills, swimming, floating, towing etc. these are quite demanding and a time must be achieved. Please take a moment and have a look at PADI Divemaster Water Skills.pdf

One of the most important skills you will learn is being able to listen, take instruction, help and be a professional role model to other divers.

The course costs approximately RM 2500 and includes a PADI Divemaster Training Pack (PADI Part Number 60305SP). Any other training materials you need can be ordered for you or can be borrwoed from us for the duration of the course. We require that the course must be completed within a set period so that the information and training is fresh in your mind and that the course does not drag on. Therefore we suggest a maximum length of course being 8 weeks from your start date. The course can be completed in as little as 10 days but we feel that you will not get the full benefit.

The final registration with PADI is charged directly to you and is currently AU$ 126.00 excluding GST.

We would recommend that all Divemasters both new, old and in training should have their own diving equipment (BCD, Regulators, Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Compass, Knife, Whistle, Reel, SMB, Wet suit, Blank waterproof slate and pencil etc.) we will obviously provide cylinder and weights.

You first thing to do is enroll on the course, pay for your Training Materials (30% Deposit) and start learning. This part takes the most time and should not be rushed. We can arrange for materials to be posted to your current location for the price of local postage.
