Jeanly, and her husband Lye, enjoyed a PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience with Borneo Dream this week. This was the first time both of them had gone further than snorkeling in the sea.

We started their experience with a short skills session in the shallow bay at Pulau Sapi in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP), Kota Kinabalu. It had rained continually throughout the night so the sand was a bit kicked up in the shallow part of the bay. With gentle instruction by Joanne they soon became comfortable with the basic skills they needed to complete during the first part of their PADI Discover Scuba Divng Experience. Next, after a surface interval, was their first dive.

We then took them on their first ever dive along the reef near Pula Sapi beach. At the start of the dive we were surrounded by inquisitive Damsel Fish and Wrasse, much to Jeanly’s delight :-). We spotted Puffer Fish, Anemone Fish, Razor Fish, Porcupine Fish and a myriad of Damsel Fish on their first dive.

For their second dive we showed them a pretty shallow reef near Pulau Gaya covered in hard and soft corals. Shoals of Fusilier darted by us throughout the dive. We showed the a colourful Nudibranch and a large Lobster hiding underneath a coral pinnacle. Jeanly was far more confident with her buoyancy and dived holding hands with Lye for part of the dive.

They had an enjoyable time during their PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience - we hope to show you both more of the underwater world when you come from Kuala Lumpur to visit Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo again.
