Diving at Mayne Rock

Mayne Rock Scuba Diving Trip, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia

We have run several scuba diving trips to Mayne Rock during August.  Mayne Rock is 30nm North West of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and is home to a long, narrow shallow coral reef (9m – 18m) with pristine corals. It also has two series of large boulders towards the southern end of the reef which create a fascinating underwater landscape for scuba diving.

During every one of the scuba diving day trips we had lovely visibility (20m +) on all dives. We found some interesting marine life – juvenile Bamboo and Nurse Sharks, Blue Spotted Rays, Nudibranches, Cuttle Fish, Crocodile Flathead and some 1.5m long Cobia’s that got very friendly with some of the Divers.

We also enjoyed some lovely lunches prepared by Tracy & Gon – our happy helpers . From home made chicken curry to potato salad and yummy sandwiches. The Divers were satisfied by both the scuba diving and the food!

Borneo Dream is the only Dive Operator in Kota Kinabalu running regular diving trips to this stunning diving destination. This means we are always the only Divers in the water – bliss. During mid March – October (the ‘Dry Season’ in Sabah) we go scuba diving at Mayne Rock as much as possible.
