Diving Sipadan, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia
Most divers travel to Sabah, Borneo to dive at Sipadan. Long recognised as a world class dive destination and made famous by Jacques Cousteau, it is understandable why diving Sipadan is so popular.
Sipadan can be dived all year round, with the best time between April to December. It has stunning drop-offs which provides for some breathtaking diving experiences. Home to nesting turtles you will see numerous Green Turtles on every dive. You’ll also see a range of Shark species, the most popular being the White Tip Shark.
Sipadan has several dive sites so there is plenty of different diving opportunities to be had. The best length of stay is from 4 days up to a week. There are a range of diving centres and resorts who have diving trips to Sipadan. I’d recommend staying at one of the resorts near Mabul or at Kapalai. The boat journey to the dive sites are much shorter and they are in a much nicer location.
Diving Sipadan is an experience every diver must have! Enjoy some of our favorite photos from diving Sipadan, Sabah, Borneo.
You can also combine diving Sipadan with muck diving at Mabul where you’ll see some amazing macro life. Spot Mandarin Fish, Dragonets, Crocodile Fish, Giant Frig Fish, colourful Nudibranches, Pygmy Seahorses, Ghost Pipe Fish and more.
If you really fancy making the most of your Sabah diving holiday, then also add on the best wreck diving in Sabah – the Usukan Bay WW2 wrecks. The large wrecks are in the range of 25m – 40m, making them suitable for experienced divers. Teaming with fish life, beautiful coral gardens and lots of marine life. A perfect compliment to drop-offs and muck diving
