Project AWARE International Reef Clean Up Event organised by Borneo Dream in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

Borneo Dream ran a reef clean up event in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park yesterday as part of Project AWARE International Clean Up Day.

The reef clean up event was a great success – we had four boats full of divers taking part and we collected 105kg of marine debris! We also performed the first ever Crown of Thorns clean up in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park on an area of reef near Pulau Mankan.

This event was also supported by some of our local Business Partners – Sabah Parks, Borneo Divers, Marine Research Foundation and the Pacific Sutera Marina – we would like to thank them for their support and for helping to make this event the success it was.

The aim of Project AWARE International Clean Up Day is to raise awareness of the importance of conserving our underwater world and encouraging marine conservation activity. We helped forty participants help address a local underwater issue – marine debris in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. Read the rest of this entry »

Scuba Diving Trips in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia

Borneo Dream runs scuba diving day trips to Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on a regular basis. We also venture outside TARP Marine Park to dive the deeper coral reefs at Edgell Patches.

Edgell Patches has two separate large coral reefs. The reefs are 10m – 25m in depth and full of beautiful hard corals, sponges, soft corals and Anemones. They are large enough to offer a different dive each time you visit this dive site.

Enjoy some video footage taken during a scuba diving trip to Edgell Patches last weekend. The video was taken by Billy, one of our Dive Professionals, during a single diving day trip.

Borneo Dream runs scuba diving trips to Edgell Patches for more experienced divers on a frequent basis. If you would like to come diving with us during your holiday in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah then please contact the Borneo Dream team.

PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience & Leisure Diving in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia

A group of 20+ Scouts from England recently came on holiday to Sabah, Borneo. During their three week visit they got involved in several local community projects. At the end of their holiday they decided to treat themselves to a day out. They decided to go with Borneo Dream to Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and took part in a either PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience, try dive, or enjoyed some snorkeling along pretty shallow coral reefs fringing Pulau Mamutik, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Billy, Borneo Dreams lead PADI Instructor, along with our other PADI Instructors helped 16 Scouts enjoy a try dive  via the PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience. Most of them had never tried scuba diving before and were amazed by the whole experience.

They started their confined water session in a sheltered, shallow bay at Pulau Mamutik in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. They then enjoyed a leisure dive along the shallow house reef and where amazed by the corals and pretty fish life – including seeing Nemo! Read the rest of this entry »

Vianney de la Strange and his son recently joined us for two days of scuba diving during their holiday in Kota Kinabalu. For both days they came diving with us in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park.

Whilst we experienced some short tropical storms above water, the scuba diving conditions were still good and we enjoyed some nice dives on Clements Reef, Pulau Sapi Jetty and Pulau Sapi House Reef.
