Natalie Dobson recently joined Borneo Dream for a scuba diving trip to Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park near Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Natalie had come to Sabah to complete the ‘Kinabalu Challenge’ week long event – this included climbing Mount Kinabalu, jungle trekking and white water rafting. After a tiring week of activities she decided a day of leisure diving in Kota Kinabalu would be a perfect end to her holiday in Sabah.

What did you like best?: I loved the fact that the diving groups were so small. After some dive holidays when you have 8 in a group it was wonderful to have only two of us and the divemaster – made for a much more relaxing dive (and was also good since I was a little rusty).

My family had an TERRIFIC AND WONDERFUL time at Kota Kinabalu. Dax loved his PADI instructors and he had a great time during his PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience with Borneo Dream. He cant wait to go back and dive again with you.
Kids Scuba Diving in KK
Maritza enjoyed herself tremendously during her snorkeling trips to Tunku Abdsul Rahman Marine Park. She loved the company of Captain Merali and Tracy. Everyone was just so sweet and patient with them. We had a smashing, splashing good time!!
My kids loved it all. Thank you to Captain Merali, Tracy, Gon and Billy for being kind and patient with the kids. The service was great. The people were great. What more can I really say!~!!! : ) You guys rock!!

“Following a friends wedding in Kuala Lumpur, the happy couple were kind enough to accompany a bunch of us to the brides home town of Kota Kinabalu in the Sabah region of Borneo. The unorthodox honeymoon kicked off with an ascent of Mount Kinabalu which followed straight into a more relaxing day in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park to ease the affects of the altitude sickness. The collection of small islands less than 15mins offshore of Kota Kinabalu in the South China Sea provided a superb day out for a gaggle of divers and snorkelers.

The day was arranged with a company called Borneo Dream formed a couple of years past by a small group of British ex pats. Having put through all our sizes and kits requirements in advance, we were met at the quayside in KK and directed to the purpose built catamaran – Borneo Dream 3.
On arrival at one of the smaller islands, we offloaded the snorkelers with their Snorkeling Guide and started a nice gentle dive on Sapi Island House Reef. As expected it was full of life, with near perfect vis despite recent strong weather fronts. After about 50mins we climbed back on board and headed further out to sea to a location on the Edgell Patches – a barrel shaped reef. We followed the shot line down to about 14m and swam with the current before taking a couple of 90 deg turns to swim back toward the shot line. Amazing table corals with a stingray hiding under one. Fired up our SMB’s and returned back on board after another 50 min dive. Read the rest of this entry »

“Borneo Dream were fantastic!
When I sent details of what I wanted to do during my planned holiday in Sabah, Borneo along with my budget to Borneo Dream and to another agency, the other one came straight back and said it was impossible without doubling the budget unless I wanted to stay in really run-down places and go on pretty unsafe trips.

Joanne from Borneo Dream, on the other hand, came back with a range of suggestions and extremely helpful comments. Email responses were almost immediate, and everything from booking our holiday to payment ran extremely efficiently.
In Sabah, Borneo itself, there wasn’t any sign of anything run down or unsafe on any of the trips / hotels Joanne booked for us! Instead, we had an absolutely fantastic 8 days there, cramming in more than we had thought possible. When we needed a bit of logistical help (e.g. when I had forgotten to print off the itinerary and needed to know pick-up times and places) Joanne was again instantly available and went out of her way to help us out.
