We have had some good scuba diving friends, Maggie & Andy, diving with us all week so we wanted to show them the best dive sites during their dive trips to Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP), KK, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. We took them scuba diving coral reefs off Pulau Gaya, Sapi, Manukan and Sulug.

The weather has been pretty good for us – very warm and sunny with little wind most of the time – ideal for scuba diving. We’ve had good visibility with the best visibility scuba diving Pulau Manukan with visibility of around 20 metres. There has also, as is normal with TARP, little or no current – perfect for some relaxed leisure diving. Read the rest of this entry »

Scuba Diving, Dive Trip, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia – Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park

Borneo Dream ran a few scuba diving trips last week. During one of our scuba diving trips we went scuba diving along coral reefs at Edgell Patches and Clements Reef in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia.

The sun was out, the sea was calm and the visibility was around 20m, the best we have seen recently scuba diving in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia.

Billy, one of our Diving Instructors, brought his video camera out and shot some stunning footage. It helped he was using his APD Evolution CCR (Closed Circuit Rebreather) during the dives as the marine life came very close to him (what, with no noisy bubbles to scare them away). He saw a 1.5 metre – 2 metre Black Tip Reef Shark at very close range (arms length away) as it swam slowly by him when scuba diving at Edgell Patches. This is the largest shark we have so close to Kota Kinabalu. We normally only see more mature sharks on our longer range dive trips. Read the rest of this entry »

Wildlife Trips, Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia

My Mother and Brother came to visit me this month for their first holiday in Sabah, Borneo.  After flying over 14 hours to get to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo from the UK we wanted to help them experience some of the stunning wildlife and rainforests of, Sabah, Borneo.

Orang Utan, Sepilok Sanctuary

We drove from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan and took them to a few of our favourite wildlife and rainforest trips – Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary and Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, Kinabalu Park and Sandakan Rainforest Discovery Centre.

They had never seen such a wide range of apes, or wildlife, in the wild before – Orang Utans, Proboscis Monkeys, Long Tailed Macaques, Pig Tailed Macaques, Leaf Monkey – and enjoyed each of the wildlife trips they went on. They also saw Hornbills, a wide range of endemic orchids and walked through beautiful rainforest landscapes. Read the rest of this entry »

Borneo Dream ran a scuba diving trip, dive trip, to Pulau Tiga last week from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. We dived the Pinnacle and Whip Coral Garden near Pulau Tiga – both are great scuba diving sites.

We had good visibility at 15m – 20m with a slight current, so we did some drift diving during the scuba dive trip to Pulau Tiga. The coral gardens and pinnacles were stunning and marine life amazing. We had a large shoal of barracudas circling us on the second dive and spotted Cuttle Fish, Nudibranches, Blue Spotted rays, Barramundi and fish life galore.

The weather was beautiful – blue skies, no wind – and all the scuba diving customers enjoyed a great scuba diving trip to Pulau Tiga. I think a few of them will dive with Borneo Dream again ;-) .

We run scuba diving day trips, dive trip, to Pulau Tiga on a regular basis from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. So drop us an email if you’d like to join us for a Pulau Tiga scuba diving trip in the future.
